Nigeria is in mourning following the passing of one of its esteemed leaders, Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni (Rtd.), former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Useni passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 82.
A highly respected military officer and statesman, Useni was instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s governance and infrastructure. During his tenure as FCT Minister, he played a key role in advancing the development of Abuja, leaving behind a legacy of impactful leadership.
After a distinguished military career, including his role as Quarter-Master General of the Nigerian Army, Useni transitioned to politics, where he continued to serve with honor. He represented Plateau South Senatorial District in the Senate, becoming a prominent advocate for peace and unity in the nation.
Known for his patriotism, compassion, and unwavering dedication, Useni’s contributions to Nigeria’s military, politics, and national development will be cherished and remembered.
