The recent cult crisis in the ancient town of Owo has claimed some lives, including children.
In response to the ongoing violent cult clashes and security disturbances in Owo, which have claimed some lives, the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has declared a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the town until further notice.
A statement released on Monday by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, directed all residents to remain indoors during the curfew period.
According to the statement, only essential services, such as hospitals, emergency services, and law enforcement, will be exempt from the curfew.
The Governor has also instructed security agencies in the state to enforce the curfew, safeguard lives and properties, apprehend those responsible for the violence, and restore peace to the community.
The statement read, “Due to the ongoing violent cult clashes and security disturbances in Owo which have led to loss of lives, the Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has ordered a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the town, till further notice.
“All residents are required to remain indoors during the curfew. Only essential services, such as hospitals, emergency services, and law enforcement, will be exempt from the curfew.
“The Governor has also asked secutiry agencies in the State to enforce the curfew, ensure safety of lives, properties, arrest perpetrators of the violence and restore peace to the community.”
Meanwhile, report revealed that at least, four people lost their lives in the recent cult crisis in the ancient town of Owo. The bodies of the casualties have been deposited in the mortuary.
