Lucky Aiyedatiwa defeats Agboola Ajayi, wins all 18 LGs
INEC declares Aiyedatiwa winner
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the just concluded governorship election in Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa defeated his major rival, Mr Agboola Ajayi of the People Democratic Party (PDP), securing the majority of votes across the state’s 18 local government areas.
According to INEC, Aiyedatiwa scored a total vote of 366,781, while Ajayi polled 117,835 votes across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.
Announcing the result in Akure, state capital, INEC’s Returning officer and Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Lokoja, Professor Akinwumi Durotimi, said Aiyedatiwa polled a total vote of 366,781, while Ajayi of PDP scored 117,845, and Mimiko of LP got 1162 votes.
Durotimi stated, “Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest votes casts, is hereby returned elected.”
