Pastor Leke Adeboye, son of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has urged Christians to dedicate any increase in their salary to God at the start of the year.
In a video, Leke explained that any salary increment Christians receive should be given as a first fruit increase.
He emphasized that this offering is distinct from the regular 10 percent tithe Christians are accustomed to giving monthly. Clarifying the difference, Leke stated, “First fruit increase, first fruit sacrifice are two different things.”
He went on to explain, “One is giving the increase that you get as an offering. So say you are being paid a salary of N500 last year and by January or any time during the year, it has become N501, you give that N1 as increase. You will tithe your regular N500 and pay 10 percent, which is N50, but the N1, you will just give it as the first fruit increase. The first fruit sacrifice is the whole January sacrifice of your salary.”
This approach, Leke noted, means that while the standard tithe remains unchanged, any additional income should be offered to God as a first fruit.
