Sowore’s stance on Russian flags and the call for military government in Nigeria
Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate, human rights activist and one of the organisers of the on-going “#EndBadGovernance#” protest in Nigeria, has given his opinion over protesters flying Russian flags and calling for military to takeover power from legitimate democratic elected government in the country.
Sowore took to his official social media (X) handle to react to the trending and strange development in the northern part of the country.
The former Presidential candidate said though he disagree with those calling for a military takeover or flying the Russian flag, but there’s nothing treasonable about waving a Russian flag at protest grounds.
Sowore stated, “Let’s make it clear that even though we disagree with those calling for a military takeover or flying the Russian flag, there is nothing treasonable about owning or waving a Russian flag at protest grounds!
“People like @officialABAT and others within his regime who hold passports embedded with foreign flags from several other countries and cannot lowball #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters with a nonexistent and unacceptable crime.”
Recall, during the security council’s meeting held at the Presidential Villa on Monday, President Bola Tinubu ordered the security apparatus to clampdown on those flying Russian flags in the on-going protest.
