The Remains of the Kidnapped Former EKSU DVC Found
The remains of the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU), Professor Femi Olaofe have been found in a shallow grave.
The Ekiti state police command on Wednesday confirmed the death of the abducted former Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Femi Olaofe, at the kidnappers’ den.
The State Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale, who confirmed the news to newsmen, said the professor’s body was found in a shallow grave.
The news of the professor’s demise, who was kidnapped about three weeks ago at his residence in Ado-Ekiti, filtered into town in the early hours of Wednesday.
The Commissioner of Police said, “Yes, the professor has been found dead, and we are doing everything possible to exhume the body for burial.
“However, we have arrested so many people, and you know the circumstances surrounding the incident, and we suspected insider’s work in which the security man employed by the professor was the one who planned it.
“They (abductors) kidnapped the man with him so that we will not suspect. In the process of rescuing him, we have arrested some people. I can’t say much about the security guard, but at the appropriate time, we will brief the public.” The ex-university teacher, was on July 9, abducted by some gunmen alongside his gateman in his residence located at the Housing Estate, Afao Road in the state’s capital, Ado-Ekiti. The sum of N50 million was demanded by the late don’s abductors for his release.
The retired Professor of Industrial Chemistry was said to have been kidnapped after returning from a short visit to Lagos, where he had gone to see his children.
Report revealed that the corpse of the septuagenarian who has been held in captivity by his abductors for 20 days was found in a shallow grave along Ekiti Cargo Airport Road.
