President Tinubu signs N70,000 Wage Bill into law.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, July 29, 2024, signed the new Minimum Wage Bill of N70,000 into law.

According to the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Mr President signed the bill midway into the Federal Executive Council meeting.

Head of Service, Mrs. Walson-Jack who was at the signing of the bill said the new law will undoubtedly reassure the workers that President Tinubu cares about their welfare.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio led others National Assembly leaders to the signing ceremony.

President Tinubu thanked the National Assembly for accelerating the passage of the bill.

Meanwhile, following the signing of the new national minimum wage bill into law, federal, states, and local governments and private sector employers are expected to commence the payment of the N70,000 new minimum wage to their workers.

Recall, Federal Government had earlier announced that the new minimum wage takes effect from April, 2024.
