The Delta born human rights activist and former Media aide to ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Reno Omokri has joined several other Nigerians to react to the planned national protest.
Omokri said before now, he had organised several protests in Nigeria and abroad, but the planned national protest in Nigeria is political, and not about economic hardship as the organisers painted it.
“I have organised protests in Nigeria and abroad and can tell you that this current planned protest is not against economic hardship, as the organisers tell you. Look at their demands. More than half of their demands are political.” Said, Omokri.
According to Omokri, the planned protest has nothing to do with the economic, and that the organisers of the protest are opportunists who want to ride in the anger of some Nigerians to achieve their political ambitions.
Omokri said, “They have nothing to do with the economy. These people are opportunists. They are seeking to ride in the anger of some Nigerians to achieve their political ambitions.”
Omokri said further that, the organisers of the protest, instead of embarking on protest, they should start or join political party and then use it to achieve their political agenda.
“They should either start or join a political party and then use it to achieve their political agenda instead of claiming that they are protesting against hunger and hardship and then asking for the 1999 Constitution to be scrapped and the release of Nnamdi Kanu. What have those things got to do with hunger and hardship.” Omokri added.
Recall, the planned national protest which is scheduled to commence by August 1st in Lagos, Abuja and other states in Nigeria. Meanwhile, the security agencies in the country have continued to issued warnings to the protesters not to cause anarchy and disorder in the nation.
