Gunmen shot dead a 300-level Linguistics student of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko.

A 300-level Linguistics student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), identified simply as Emmanuel, was tragically shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in one of the private student hostels in the town.

On Monday, Comrade Oladele Emmanuel, Vice Chairman of the National Association of Universities Students, called on security forces and the university management to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Comrade Oladele Emmanuel emphasized that the motive behind the killing remains unknown. He stated, “The university community must be reassured that such a tragic event will be met with the full force of the law and diligent investigative efforts. The death of Emmanuel is not just a loss to his family and friends, but to the entire AAUA community. His potential and contributions to our shared academic environment are irreplaceable. We mourn his untimely departure and extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Comrade Oladele Emmanuel also urged the university management to enhance security measures on and around the campus. He recommended increasing security patrols, improving lighting, and making emergency services more accessible. Additionally, he called on students and members of the AAUA community to report any information that might assist in the investigation to the appropriate authorities.

“We trust that the authorities will act with urgency and transparency in addressing this incident. Emmanuel’s memory deserves nothing less than our commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served. Let us unite in our grief and our resolve to create a safer, more secure environment for all members of the AAUA community. We owe it to Emmanuel, his family, and to ourselves,” he added.

Meanwhile, at the time of filling up this report, the entire university community is being thrown into mourning following the killing of the 300-level Linguistics student of the Institution.
