Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has made a heartfelt appeal to the state’s indigent students enrolled in tertiary institutions nationwide, urging them to promptly apply for the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
Speaking through the state’s Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Olaolu Akindolire, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of taking advantage of this opportunity. The Commissioner directed students to visit the loan portal at nelf.gov.ng to register.
During his address in Akure, Mr. Akindolire highlighted that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s call was aimed at ensuring that all indigent students from Ondo State benefit from the Federal Government’s loan scheme. This scheme is specifically designed for students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
According to Mr. Akindolire, NELFUND was introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration and was enacted into law in June 2023.
The purpose of Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) is to ensure that no Nigerian student is denied access to education due to financial constraints, thereby offering significant relief to students struggling with the payment of school fees.
“The disbursement of the loan to beneficiaries will commence next week,” said the Commissioner. He stressed the urgency for students of Ondo State origin to register for the scheme without delay to secure this essential financial support.
