Gunmen abducted a chief priestess and 11 others in Delta State.
A group of Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, on July 6, 2024, abducted a chief priestess known as Mrs. Kuku, along with 11 other individuals in the Egbo community, located in the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to Daily Post, the kidnapping occurred around 4pm on Saturday.
The priestess and her followers were performing rituals for her river goddess under a bridge connecting Egbo and Ekrokpe communities when the gunmen attacked. In addition to the priestess, about five of her followers were also taken.
Before this incident, the same group of gunmen had kidnapped five other individuals, making their entrance and escape through the surrounding bush.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, mentioned in a telephone interview with Daily Post on Sunday afternoon that the incident had not yet been reported to the police.
He assured that he would investigate the matter and provide further updates.
