Aisha Abubakar, a woman recently arrested in Katsina State, has been found in possession of a significant cache of bullets.
According a reliable source, the discovery occurred over the weekend as the alleged woman aboard a state government-owned mass transit bus.
In a video widely shared online, Aisha explained that dire circumstances and hunger compelled her to undertake the illegal task of transporting ammunition, allegedly for bandits. Speaking in Hausa to the authorities, she fervently denied any history of similar activities. “I have never done this before,” she insisted, adding, “hunger pushed me into this.”
The suspect recounted how an unknown man handed her the bullets, asserting that she had no knowledge of his identity or location. “I don’t know what it is,” Aisha stated. “It was given to me by a man, I don’t know him, his name or where he lives.”
When asked about the final destination for the ammunition, Aisha claimed she had been instructed to leave the bullets “at the stream along Hanyin Dantumaki in Katsina (State)” for another individual to collect.
As of the time of this report, the Katsina State Police Command had not yet issued an official statement regarding the arrest of Abubakar and the discovery of the cache of bullets.
Recall, before now, several people including women have been arrested in the northern part of the country in their attempts to transport ammunition to bandits who are using the forest for a cover in the area.
