The management of Dangote Refinery has shifted the commencement of petrol production from June to mid-July of 2024.
The announcement about the new production date at the $20 billion facility in Lagos was confirmed by Aliko Dangote, the President and CEO of the refinery, during a meeting with journalists on Monday.
Dangote explained that the rescheduling of the date was a result of a minor delay, leading to the transition from the initially planned June to the middle of July.
According to Dangote, his Refiney will start supplying fuel (PMS) to Nigerian market between 10th-15th of July, 2024.
“We had a bit of delay, but PMS will start coming out by 10 to 15 of July. But then we want to keep it in tank to make sure that it settles. So by third week of July, we’ll be able coming out to take it into the market,” said, Aliko Dangote.
Recall, few months ago, the management of Dangote Refinary assured Nigerians that by May, 2024, the Refinery would start supplying fuel to Nigerian marketers at affordable rate.
Meanwhile, Nigerians are anxiously waiting for Dangote’s fuel at petrol stations across the country, believing that, the current high price of PMS will be a thing of the past, and petrol will be made available in the country.
Mind you, since President Bola Tinubu announced the removal of petrol subsidy in Nigeria, prices of the fuel has continued to increase on daily basis, thereby, causing economic hardship on Nigerians. Meanwhile, in many occasions, especially recent time, vehicles’ owners have continued to struggle for fuel on daily basis, and the prices of the available ones are exorbitant, causing the commercial vehicles to increase transport fare, some private cars’ owners have parked their cars due to the unaffordable prices of fuel.
