Explore political resolution on Kanu and other associate issues
The former Vice-President and 2023 presidential candidate of People Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has taken to his social media handle to react to the recent killing of officers of the Nigerian Army and some civilians in Abia State by gunmen suspected to be IPOB terriorists.
The former Vice-President who outrightly condemned the act, prayed to God to grant the family of the victims the fortitude to bear the loss and the departed souls, rest in peace.
Atiku said, “The violence that led to the killing of soldiers and civilians in Abia State on Thursday stands condemned. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who may have lost a loved one. May their souls rest in peace. But even more profound is the impact of yesterday’s sit-at-home in the Southeast region of our country on students writing WAEC examinations.”
He added that the vein of the unknown gun men hiding under cover to unleash death and mayhem on the innocent people must be lifted, to ensure that criminal elements are separated from legitimate agitators.
Atiku added, “The veil of the so-called Unknown Gun Men hiding under cover to unleash death and mayhem must be lifted to ensure that criminal elements are separated from legitimate agitators.
“To this end, without prejudice to the ongoing legal processes, I think the time has come to explore a political resolution to the Nnamdi Kanu and other associated issues. I believe that this will defuse the compressor cooker situation in the region. It will be a win-win for all parties.”
This is a welcome suggestion, let all the stakeholders come together to resolve whatever issue at least to put a stop to this killings
Political solution with sincerity of purpose will go a long way in getting this issue resolved. If this issue is discussed I believe solution will be preferred to it.
Without secession, Nigeria can be better administered if we have true federalism, where each state will determine what it wants and the federal government will only coordinate the general affairs of the country.
Our state institutions should be empowered to function without any influence this will stop every agitation once justice is seen to be served.
No matter how long will pretend all is well, agitation will continue. It is time we all agreed to look at what is the cause of the agitation then let there be a sincere solution.
Nobody with any injury on his toe that will put on a shoe without severe pain the best is to get the injury healed before putting on shoe.
It is time our political class forget the position to first of all fix Nigeria. If the environment is peaceful a governor will be comfortable to govern and a president will be happy to preside. For how long do we continue to have internal war and our heroes are wasted daily? Let us declare state of emergency in every area of our national life in order to get solution.
If there is no country there will not be political office holders. Enough of our pretext the country is bleeding
