Be Strong & Be of Good Cheer, Former Edo Deputy Governor, Shaibu Consoles Tijani Babangida

The Deputy of Edo State, Phillip Shaibu, has paid a condolence visit to the former Super Eagle player, Tijani Babangida.

Shaibu who took to his social media (X) to announce his visit to the former Super Eagle Star, consoled him.

Philip said, “Be Strong and Be of Good Cheer.

“Earlier today, I paid a condolence visit to Nigeria’s ex-international, Tijani Babangida at his residence in Abuja. It was disheartening when I got the information on what happened to one of us.”

Shaibu said Babangida is looking fine, responding well while his wife is recuperating.

“But today, I’m happy that he is looking fine and responding well. He can talk and the wife is also recuperating, but for the son and the younger brother, I wish them eternal rest and pray that God fills the gap that they have left.” Said, Shaibu.

Shaibu added, “All of us in the Players’ Union are with him in this moment of his life.

“If there’s anything that unites Nigeria, during the war and even during economic crisis, it’s sports. So, we must give a premium concentration to sports those who are actively involved in it because that is a unifying factor for us.

“TJ is one of the people who have used their skills to project the image of this country and unite the people.

“I think every day, things happen and that is why we have amendments in everything that we do as it regards the constitution (of the Players’ Union). Security of active and those outside the game is very key and that is where the Players’ Union comes in.

“Legends like Tijani Babangida and ex-internationals need to be catered for. Not just by life insurance but the country has to have a policy in place for those that have actually given all to the service of the country — athletes, just like the military should be given first line in almost everything.”

He urged all Nigerians to pray for Babangida and also pray for the respose of the soul of his brother, son and for quick recovery of his wife.

“I want to urge all Nigerians to pray for Tijani Babangida and also pray for the repose of the soul of his brother, son and for the quick recovery of his wife.” Said, Shaibu.
