Abayomi Ogunjimi, an Aerospace Engineer, who just clocked 43, has taken to his verified X handle to share his story and experience.
He said, he lost his father when he was 9 years old, and grew up with no single male influence.
Below: The Full Story of Abayomi Ogunjimi, a native of Offa in Kwara State.
“Omo Ogunniyi, the Offa boy from Ile Ojomu Doyin is 43 years old today.
“My father died at 43. I was 9 years old. I grew up as an only boy, no older brothers, no single male influence. All I had was my dream, determination, the support of my late mother, my loving sisters and ofcourse God’s abundant grace.
“After a successful career in the military, I retired at 37 and have earned a monthly pension for life since then.
“In 6 years, I achieved more than I did in 14 years of career. The difference is the freedom that I have.
“I started my own company. Earned 12% commission payout from partner Universities in the UK and Canada from 283 students and disbursed ₦2.8billion in travel finance over a period of 3 years.
“There is a trade-off between freedom and working to earn a living.
“It is about the balance between the autonomy to live and work as one pleases versus the stability and security that comes from a steady income or job.
“The liberty to make your own choices can lead to higher income and better standards of living.
“Yet, it also comes with risks and responsibilities – the security of a steady paycheck versus benefits of the potential limitless rewards of being your own boss.
“The lack of activity also made me age faster.
“In finding a balance, I settled for a job where I work for only 14 days in a month and earn within the ranks of the top 10%.
“It’s my birthday today! Coincidentally, the rose shrub in the lawns by my driveway is in bloom this morning. Maxie has insisted I must wear one.”
