The former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the upper chamber of the national assembly, Senator Shehu Sani has taken to his X handle to react to the recent assassination of Aiyedatiwa’s campaign coordinator in Supare-Akoko Area of Ondo State, Mr Alaba Abey, popularly called Excell.
Sani said, “The assassination news from Ondo is unfortunate and tragic.” While one David Ken, indicated name of the victim as Aiyedatiwa’s campaign coordinator, Mr Abbey.
Meanwhile, report revealed that the Returning Officer for Ward 10 in Supare Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election, Mr Alaba Abbey has been assassinated by unknown assailants.
Newsmen gathered that the unknown gunmen shot the deceased who served as a ward coordinator for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot-Soldiers (LACO-SF), on Saturday at his home.
The deceased’s elder brother, Samuel Abbey, who confirmed the incident said he was assassinated on Saturday night around 9 pm shortly after returning home, in front of his house.
Meanwhile, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot-Soldiers (LACO-SF), has condemned the gruesome murder of its member.
LACO-SF, however, called on the police authorities to protect its members from such attacks by unknown assailants.
In a statement released by its State Information Director, Mr Kayode Fasua, the group revealed that the late Abbey was actively involved in campaigning for the election of Governor Aiyedatiwa until his untimely demise.
Also reacting to the tragic news, the Director-General of LACO-FS in Akoko Southwest Local Government, Hon. David Ajobiewe, described the incident as a shocking tragedy.
“Excel’ had been a resourceful coordinator for the Aiyedatiwa campaign organisation in Ward 10 of Supare and was never known to be violent and never had any history of a local or domestic dispute.
“We urge the police authorities to step up investigations into his gruesome murder and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book,” Ajobiewe pleaded.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya said the Command had begun investigation to unravel all that happened.
She said, “In brief, the command is aware of the incident at Supare, and the investigation is ongoing to unravel all that happened.”
