The Kaduna born human rights activist and former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the upper chamber of the national assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has taken to his official social media handle to react as Abia State Government cancelled
the payment of pension to ex-governors and their deputies.
Senator Sani saw the decision of Abia State Government as a welcome development.
“The Abia State Government decision to cancel the payment of pension to Ex Governors & their Deputies is commendable.”
According to Senator Sani, “Elective offices should not be pensionable.This will save a lot of money for developmental projects in education & health.”
He called on other state governments to emulate Abia State
“Other states should emulate this bold step.” Said, Sani.
Recall, few days ago, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti signed into law the bill cancelling the payment of pension to ex-governors and their deputies in the state.
