NDLEA Apprehends Hair Stylist and Dispatch Rider for Selling Drug-Infused Chin-Chin to Students
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two individuals involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drug-laced chin-chin to students and social gatherings in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
The suspects, 20-year-old hair stylist Josephine Odunu and 30-year-old dispatch rider Edesemi Ikporo, were apprehended following a patrol around Opolo area where Edesemi was intercepted on March 10th, 2024, with 200 grams of chin-chin containing cannabis sativa.
Subsequent investigations led to Josephine’s arrest, who was found distributing the drugged chin-chin from the salon where she worked in Kpansia area. A search of the salon uncovered an additional 3.00 kilograms of the illicit substance, bringing the total seized from the duo to 3.2 kilograms. It was revealed that Josephine was a key distributor to a wanted suspect responsible for producing the drugged chin-chin, while Edesemi handled the delivery to buyers.
In another operation in Adamawa state, two wanted suspects, Ajim Samuel (aka Boss) and Davidson John Joshua (aka Dantala), were apprehended while transporting a consignment of tramadol containing 14,428 pills hidden in their car compartments along the Numan-Jalingo road. Additionally, 21 grams of cannabis and monetary exhibits totaling N19,280 were recovered from them.
Further, in Osun state, a commercial bus driver, Ogunleye Adegoke, was arrested after NDLEA operatives discovered 2,000 capsules of tramadol, 60 tablets of rohypnol, and 10 bottles of codeine syrup concealed in the spare tyre compartment of his vehicle along Gbongan-Ibadan road.
In various other operations across different states, significant seizures were made, including 343,000 pills of opioids from a suspect in Bauchi state, 24 kilograms of cannabis from a transport company driver in Ogun state, and 125.3 kilograms of cannabis, 3,400 pills of tramadol, and 30 bottles of codeine syrup from suspects in Kano.

Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the officers and men of the Bayelsa, Adamawa, Osun, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Edo, Kano, and Ogun Commands for their exceptional efforts. He also praised their counterparts across the country for intensifying their advocacy lectures, emphasizing a balance between drug supply reduction and demand reduction efforts.
