The Ondo State Government has issued approval for the recruitment of 2,000 teachers into the state civil service.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa announced this decision during the inauguration of the late Rosa Jane Pelly legacy project at Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School, Akure, on Friday.
Represented by his Deputy, Mr. Olayide Adelami, Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing education, stating, “I am glad to say that the state government’s huge investment in the education sector is yielding positive results as our students are doing well on all fronts.”
He emphasized Ondo State’s emerging prominence in the education sector, declaring, “It is a known fact that Ondo State is now a force to reckon with in the education sector, both nationally and internationally.”
Highlighting the recruitment initiative, he stated, “We have recently approved the recruitment of 2,000 teachers into both our primary and secondary schools. This is to inject new blood into our schools.”
Furthermore, Aiyedatiwa announced the recent approval of N550 million for the registration of students in state-owned secondary schools for the 2024 WAEC examination.
Commending the dedication of Miss Jane Pelly, the pioneer principal of Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School from 1960 to 1973, Aiyedatiwa urged philanthropic individuals to collaborate with the state to achieve its educational objectives.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Temitope Ojoge, the Principal of Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School Akure, expressed gratitude to the state government and the donor for their contributions to educational development in the state.
She described the newly inaugurated building not only as a symbol of progress and growth but also as a testament to the resilience and determination that characterize the school community.
