Gunmen Invade Mosque, Open Fire On Worshippers In Kaduna State

According to Daily Post, Gunmen suspected to be terriorists have invaded a mosque and opened fire on the worshipers in Angwar Makera, Kwasakwasa Community in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, during Friday prayers, resulting in killing of two persons.

Report revealed that, the incident occurred around 2 pm, with the attackers opening fire on worshipers during the Juma’at Mosque prayers.

A community leader, Hudu Kwasakwasa, who confirmed the attack, stated that the victims were among the Muslims targeted during the Friday prayers. The assailants abducted others during the attack.

The victims who lost their lives have been laid to rest at the Old Kuyello cemetery.

According to Kwasakwasa, the attack occurred during the second raka’at of the salat, forcing the remaining worshipers to flee for their safety. He also mentioned a recent abduction of about nine people by the same group in the Angwar Kanawa community.

The attack took place shortly after the abduction of over 280 students in the neighboring Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Kaduna state, ASP Mansir Hassan, stated that he was in a security meeting and would provide a report by the end of the meeting.
